Family Owned & Operated since 1979
Bale Defence is a multi-generational, privately owned company dedicated to the support of Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces with the design, manufacture and through life support of military equipment and Defence related products. The Company also serves as a repairer and supply chain integrator, locating and supplying a comprehensive range of vital spares and equipment.
Bale Engineering, the parent company, was established in Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia in 1979 followed by Bale Defence Industries in 2001 and Bale Defence Engineering Systems in 2011. Continued growth and expansion over the years sees the Company now employing a highly trained and skilled workforce, delivering a range of products and services to Defence Facilities and associated industries throughout Australia and the Pacific Rim.
We have a diverse range of products and services. A brief cross-section includes Special Forces equipment, weapon storage systems, weapon mounts, weapon repair, specialized containers, copper nickel pipe and fittings, ship furnishings, marine watertight doors and hatches, high and low pressure valves, EO Lockers, propeller supply and repair, system definitions & layout, RO, naval architecture, WH & S equipment, all backed up with strong logistical support.
Bale Defence are regional suppliers for a number of overseas companies from around the world. With our extensive network of contacts we are ideally situated to supply a wide range of Defence related parts and products.

We also work closely with almost all of the defence department’s prime contractors (e.g. BAE Systems, Thales, AWD) in delivering customized engineering systems and solutions for both Army and Navy.
Our company also has a strong commitment to research and development, utilizing high-end design, simulation and analysis software packages such as Autodesk Inventor Professional and Autodesk Simulation Mechanical. The Bale design team are proven in delivering innovative, custom designed solutions to a vast range of engineering and manufacturing based problems. The latest CNC machine tools and fabrication facilities are all housed in our three Port Macquarie workshops. We have a dedicated clean room and an extensive Military library, all located on the premises for close monitoring of products, quality and workmanship. Our QMS is qualified to ISO 9001:2015 by Lloyd's Register.
